To our growing turd,
You are 16 weeks and 7 days now. I wanted to start this journal earlier however you have had different plans for me. The first trimester brought with it nausea filled days followed by a bedtime that sometimes was as early as 7pm. Your mom has never enjoyed feeling so badly. We have now made it to the second trimester. You are beginning to show through my small bump that others are starting to notice…though most of them think I am just gaining weight. Days are now filled with trying to avoid stress…you don’t make stress easy for your mom these days. I have also found a hunger that sometimes takes an entire subway footlong to satisfy. Speaking of food, what I wouldn’t give to have a pound of salami. However, lunch meat is a big no-no. So I am avoiding and satisfying other cravings such as DQ, Jack n the Box tacos, Buffalo chicken dip…are you noticing a trend…you really LOVE tacos and chicken! The subway sandwich order is chicken teriyaki. The irony of this…during the first trimester the smell or sight is chicken made me nauseous. I haven’t been able to get back to eating bananas though. My first experience with morning sickness was on the beach on a pile of seashells right after I had a banana. A few other fun facts…going number 2 has been and interesting experience. Sometimes I feel like my belly button is being ripped in half. I can feel my abs moving. Sleeping through the night had left the building. And I wouldn’t change a thing! As your mom I am honored to have you. One thing you will learn early on is that you are not our first. You have a beautiful brother or sister that was taken from our family too early. Little Bear watches over you and our family everyday. Mommy and Daddy cannot begin to explain to you the joy you have brought to us. We prayed for you. Just as Daddy prayed for your Mommy. You are so loved already, and rightfully so. You are going to LOVE meeting everyone. You have such a large family and support group. Not to mention your two furry brothers Ari and Obie.
We love you Jackie!
