As I lie here this morning I think of you. Dad and I went to your anatomy scan this week. We were full of excitement. We also knew that we could find out your gender if we wanted. The plan from the beginning was keep it surprise. The ultrasound itself was an interesting experience. The tech could see into your tiny body. We saw your skull and brain forming, we saw your spin, and we also saw your heart. The tech knew that we were not going to find out your sex, however Dad and I were pretty certain we say “balls” during the scan. We decided to find out! You’re a BOY! We could not be more excited! Before I go off on a tangent I want to talk about what is really on my mind. We were told by Sylvia, the midwife who is married to your Grandma Hinkle’s cousin, that the tech found your left ventricle to be thick and one of your kidneys enlarged. Daddy is taking this news much better than I. He is a strong man and he is not one to react right away. The tech did have trouble seeing everything she wanted, so Dad just thinks she is not sure and wants us to get a second opinion. I of course, have been worried scared for you, for us, for our family. Yesterday was a trying day as we awaited a phone call for when our appointment would be with a specialist. We get to go this coming Monday. Thank goodness we do not have to wait very long. I m happy that we will have answers soon and I pray that modern medicine can help us to get through this. I don’t know what is next for us little Jackie but just know that your parents will do everything in their power to provide the best care for you. We love you more than you will ever know.
It came as quite the surprise to your grandparents that we found our your sex! The are all so excited! Grandpa Hinkle already is making plans for dirt bikes, club houses, and all sorts of other “boy” things for you to do together. Grandma Anderson said, “Yay! I know what to do with boys!” And Pawpaw knew you were boy all along. He also told your Dad, “Good shooting.”
Mommy is very excited to share this news with everyone! Your Aunties are going to be so mad, excited, “we thought you weren’t going to find out”…you lied!
What a roller coaster of emotion to know you are a BOY and to be worried about your health and well-being.
We love you Jackie!
