NICU Mamas Stick Together

I had breakfast yesterday with a fellow NICU Mama who’s kiddo is in the NICU at Cardinal Glennon. We shared a wonderful morning together strung together by holding back tears. I have been messaging with her for quite sometime now and this was our first face to face meeting. I knew that it would be hard and oh so very rewarding.

I also was able to see a fellow co-worker Heart/ NICU Mama and her kiddo the same day! Her son recently underwent his second and hopefully final heart operation just weeks ago.

Our lives are connected by devastating life-altering news. We all walk different but very similar paths and connect in a way that others cannot. There is something bitter-sweet about talking to someone who gets it. Who understands the stresses, who understands the medical terminology, and who understands the NICU environment. It’s not always easy for me to sit and share stories, to answer questions and to connect about our kiddos…but when I take the time to do it I am very glad that I did. I am taking baby steps in my healing process each time I connect to a new Mom and I feel like I have a purpose when we connect.

We love you Jackie!
