Our Journey to Jackie – 10.11.2016 Obstructed Aorta

October 11, 2016

Mommy and Daddy took off work for our very long day at Cardinal Glennon. As we waited to have your ECHO we were able to enjoy watching your movements from my belly! It was very exciting and eased mommy’s stress while we waited.

It was another emotional day as the cardiologist notified us that there appears to be an obstruction to the aorta and a possible hole between the left and right ventricle. In doctor terms this means a pericardial effusion of unknown etiology, likely interruption of aortic arch vs hypolasia of transverse aortic arch, possible VSD.

There is a very high chance that you will have heart surgery shortly after birth. Depending on your state of health I may not be able to hold or touch you until I get discharged from the hospital. You will be taken by ambulance with daddy to Cardinal Glennon. I am very confident in our team. I am just hoping that I am emotionally strong enough to stand by your side and tell you everything is going to be okay. I don’t know what the future holds but we love you very much and will be right here with you the entire time. Stay strong Jackie.

We love you Jackie!
