Not only have we been hit with milestone birthdays of our family members, the Holidays, and we are also nearing the one year mark…One would be enough to tackle…however, we get to face all of it over a period of two months. That is a short amount time with a lot of BIG things taking place for this bereaved Mama. I already have started to feel the effects of increased anxiety, I already can see a wave building on the horizon, and I already know that these days leading up to Thanksgiving, December 21, Christmas, and December 30th will be much worse than the actual days themselves. Or at least that has been the norm. Trust me the anticipation of those days are usually WAY worse than THE DAY.
That being said I have taken strides to help ease these days as they near closer and closer. I have a plan! And from what I have learned from other bereaved Mom’s who are ahead of me on this path, having a plan is the name of the game.
One new addition to my schedule to help with this increased anxiety that I am feeling includes acupuncture! Let us just take some time to discuss this important addition. We all know from my previous posts that I take part in some “natural” remedies. I’m actually sitting here now writing this post breathing in the grounding and gleeful blend of serenity and lime essential oils. I found the blend combination on Pinterest. “DoTerra essential oil blend of Serenity and Lime. This blend smells INCREDIBLE and is the perfect combination to diffuse when guests come over to help settle nerves and encourage conversation.” Now, I am not expecting guests however I felt it could be the perfect blend to accompany my writing. So far so good, but let us not get off topic.
Knowing and acknowledging that I was feeling more stressed than normal I set out to find additional support during this time. I did not like the idea of just “popping a pill”. So acupuncture had come up in a few conversations and so I decided to give it a go needles and all..small needles…but needles nonetheless. I see a doctor that was recommended to me by a family member and I have gone now three times and I can already feel a difference in myself. Maybe it’s all in my head, maybe I just think it’s helping so therefore it is…or maybe it is actually working and acupuncture does actually work. I even had a sinus headache my last appointment so doc put needles in my face! I was amazed at how quickly my sinus headache went away and stayed away. I still have a bit of drainage but I am recovering much faster from my seasonal allergy encounter than I normally would. All in my head? Mind over matter? Think what you must but I say this stuff actually works.
I am looking forward to all of my upcoming appointments and as the doctor says, “Let’s make you better.” Yes…let us do that. That sounds wonderful.
We love you Jackie!
