May We All Heal – Day 7

7. NAME

I don’t know the gender to our two miscarriages but I still gave them names. Bear and Peanut. It was important to me that I could speak of them just as I speak of Jackie. Even though they were not here for long and even though we never go to meet them and even though we don’t know if they are boys or are girls. It was just important to me…important to us…a name gives you a reference…you know who you are talking about when you use a name. I feel that it helps others to realize just how special those pregnancies were and are for us as well.

Jackie’s name has a long history. His full name is Jack Andrew Anderson V. That’s right…he is the fifth! That’s not very common these days and it was important to Jackie’s PawPaw and Daddy that their name continue on…that we stick to tradition. To be honest we had a hard time with boy names anyway and we didn’t want to be the ones to break the legacy…it had come this far. There are times when I get sad…sad because this legacy is now finished. There will never be a Jack Andrew Anderson VI. He would’ve been my Grandson…he would have been Jackie’s baby boy……Once again I am saddened by the thought. What dreams we had for him…wonderful…beautiful dreams.

We love you Bear, Jackie, and Peanut!
