9. FORGIVENESS
To forgive is to heal. You will never forget…but you can forgive. This can be tough one…
“Today I decided to forgive you. Not because you apologized, or because you acknowledged the pain that you caused me, but because my soul deserves peace.”
I struggle with this at times. This is one of those…I sometimes struggle with my faith issues that I tend to not bring up on the blog. I steer pretty clear of politics and religion…but just know that I do tend to struggle with my forgiveness with the ‘man upstairs’. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride, similar to our fertility journey. And just as I am mending…this relationship is too.
“Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point to move forward.”
“Forgive yourself first.”
Forgiving oneself…this is another one that can be tough. I cannot tell you how many times I placed blame on myself…how many times I thought that I did something wrong. I placed a whole lot of blame on myself then and I still do it at times now. It is hard as a parent to try to disconnect yourself from the situation. Of course you blame yourself for your children’s misfortunes and wrong doings…is that not just a part of parenthood? The worry, the guilt, … that it’s your fault that something bad happened?
We love you Bear, Jackie, and Peanut!
